I watched a video on youtube about training people to go on mars. It would take a long time to go on mars, 2 years! Its hard to live in a compact space without leaving with other people for 2 years. I wonder how they do that? This is what that simulation is for. The simulation is 4 months with no human contact other than your crew members. Where is it? The sim. is in a remote island of Hawaii. The reason for Hawaii is because the ground is very similar.  Its got lots of rocky craters from its past active volcanoes. It takes around 40 minutes to receive anything from earth, you only get ten minutes of shower time per week.

Why cant they go outside? mars atmosphere is much thinner than ours, making more radiation  come through wich is harmful. They have a rover for going outside and taking pictures.
